Zurich – Main Station

Photo submitted by © Helmut Stampfli

  • Personal note

Zurich is the largest railway station in Switzerland, frequented every day by about 350′000 persons. The station is an important node in the Swiss railway network, especially in the network of suburban trains, bringing commuters from and to work. About 1′800 trains leave the station every day. But the station is not only a station: It is also a shopping centre with 117, a ‘transit zone’, a meeting point, even a living room for some people.

Photo taken near the Grand Place in Brussels on my first visit to this beautiful city in May 2009.
‘As Time goes by’ – Taken in Zürch, near the famous Bahnhofstrasse, where time is money and waits for no one.

This photograph was taken whilst my dog was taking me for my evening stroll. The Geeren is a typical guesthouse with good food, and of course beer. It is my nearest pub although I rarely imbibe. The crepiscule reminds me of the Magritte images of day and night – The Empire of Lights.
Location, Gockhausen 8044, near Zurich, Switzerland
